About Cambium
Named for the living layer of a tree where new growth happens, Cambium Climbing provides the technical instruction and supportive environment you need to add your next ring of experience. We believe in continuous learning, dreaming big and being playful on the rock.
Meet Amanda
Amanda discovered rock climbing while studying Kinesiology at the University of Calgary in 2012, and quickly shaped her life around the pursuit of climbing and guiding. During the summer of 2013, she began her first guiding season at the Tim Hortons Children's Ranch in Kananaskis, laying the foundation for a career built around sharing her passion for climbing and the outdoors.

Her approach to climbing brings a playful curiosity. Amanda believes in dreaming big, challenging yourself and always learning. At 5’1”, Amanda relies on exceptional footwork, body awareness, and a background in gymnastics to move fluidly over rock. She has an excellent understanding of technical rope systems, and is makes the most of every day by being very efficient. Amanda has a background in teaching across multiple disciplines, including gymnastics, skiing, Zumba® and yoga. Amanda brings a well rounded and adaptable approach to instruction, shaped by experience working with a wide range of clients and learning styles.

Amanda spends her summers in Squamish climbing and guiding classic routes. More recently, winters have been spent chasing the climbing season around the world in destinations such as Spain, Greece, Turkey and Mexico. She's not afraid of the snow either, with experience working as an avalanche technician and ascents of many classic Rockies ice routes.

As a guide, Amanda creates experiences that are both challenging and enjoyable. Her approach centers on simplifying the technical aspects of the sport into clear, digestible skills, allowing complexity to build naturally alongside a student’s progress. Her style is intentional and patient, rooted in the belief that the best learning happens when curiosity outweighs fear
